“I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against her” (Matthew 16:18)
A growing hunger and thirst for more of God’s presence could be sensed this year. God’s people no longer want to settle for business as usual but are longing for a vibrant relationship with their Saviour and Lord. This is translated into a desire to see the enemy’s territory recede. The Lord is raising up an army of intercessors to stand in the gap and lift up the name of Jesus. The battle is fierce but victory belongs to God!
Three gatherings of a total of 1300 Christians from a wide range of denominations took place in various regions of the island.
In Beau Bassin, the program started with a time of praise and worship followed by an exhortation from God's Word. After a video clip from Transformation Africa was viewed, the people spent some time in confession and repentance. Then intercessory prayers were lifted on behalf of families, the youth, those in positions of authority and victims of injustice. Strongholds in Mauritian society were pulled down as people prayed against violence, promiscuity, drug addiction, idolatry, materialism, corruption and other ills. God’s people also prayed for the spreading of the Gospel in the Indian Ocean islands, Africa and the world.

The churches in the north met in Tombeau Bay. About three hours were well spent in praise and prayers to our God. During the first part of the program the people prayed prayers of repentance and asked God for humility. They interceded for the church, the persecuted church, the community, the government, Mauritius and the world and special prayers were made for Zimbabwe, the family and the young.
For the second part the people were divided into four groups i.e men, women, youth and children, Each group prayed for various requests that were on a list to pray for.
Vieux Grand Port was the village where Christians coming from the churches in the south gathered. All prayed with the same fervor for the transformation and the healing of our society, God's design for the family and the children, peace in the world and God's blessing on all peoples.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Northern Region
The churches of the Northern regions of Mauritius met for an afternoon of prayer at the Evangelical Church of Tombeau Bay.
There were at least 10 churches present or represented. While this region has many more than these churches its sad that only a few chose to participate.
A steering committee was appointed to draw up a programme and advertise the day.
About three hours were well spent in Praise and Prayers to our God. We had four praise bands lead us in praise to our God. We had a drama team that challenged us to remove any masks we may try and have before God. The afternoon closed with a dance group that lifted up praise to God.
Prayers were offered to God for Him to cleanse His Church, as we prayed prayers of repentance and asked God for humility before Him.
Prayers were offered for the community, country and Government, and the world.
Special Prayer was made for Zimbabwe, Christian families and young people.
We also prayed for the Persecuted church.
We had three sessions of Prayer: In session II, we divided the people into four groups i.e. Men, Women, Youth and children, Each group prayed for various things that were on a list to pray for.
The final session was great as we had all the pastors on the stage and each one prayed as the Lord chose.
Thereafter we rejoiced with the praise band and the dancers.
The afternoon ended on a high note as we shared with one another in fellowship with tea and cake and cold drinks, kindly provided by our host church, the Evangelical Church of Tombeau Bay.
Enthusiasm was shown towards the prayer breakfasts held in the North on the second Saturday of every month. This has been going on for more than two years now. There was also great interest shown in next years Global Day of Prayer.
All told we had just over 220 people present.
We praise God for a lovely afternoon. God Blessed It. Amen!!!!!!
