Pray for the Persecuted Church

Since the death and resurrection of Christ 2000 years ago, 43 Million Christians have become martyrs. International Statistics show that an estimated 150 000 Christians are martyred every year. More than 200 million Christians are restricted form living out their Christianity. There is a growing onslaught on Christianity worldwide.
More and more countries are accepting legislation that creates greater difficulty for Christians to live out their faith and restricts them from gathering freely. There are also continuous efforts to ban the Bible.

Here are some resources to help you when you pray for the Persecuted Church:

Each year Open Doors releases the World Watch List, a detailed analysis of Christian persecution worldwide. In this free resource, countries are evaluated and ranked according to the severity of persecution that occurred in the past year

The Religious Liberty Commission is monitoring the religious liberty situation in more than 100 nations, defending persecuted Christians, informing the global church, challenging the Church to pray

(www.idop.org ) and giving all possible assistance to those who are suffering. The Commission also makes fact finding trips and meets with governments and ambassadors speaking up for the suffering brothers and sisters. At the United Nations the Commission reports about the situation and arranges special hearings with Christians from countries under pressure.
