40 Days for the Kingdom of God in Nigeria
40 DAYS FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD IN NIGERIA. JOEL 2:14-27; PSALM 85:6, 7; PROVERBS 14:34, Matthew 6:10, 13b

After the Global Day of Prayer (GDOP), June 4, 2006, the National Steering Committee felt led to call the nation to a 40 day fast, dubbed, ‘40 days to move Nigeria forward in the right direction.’ Prayer points were circulated chiefly through the internet and many Christians across the nation participated in this fast which focused on praying for the political process and election 2007.

However, towards the end of this fast, it became clear that the Father’s burden is not primarily the politics of Nigeria, but the Church in Nigeria or the Kingdom of God in Nigeria. It was also impressed on our hearts that another season of prayer be dedicated, primarily to pray for the church in Nigeria. The main focus is repentance and cry for revival-that the church in Nigeria will be restored to the right relationship with her Master. Such a restoration of the church to her Master is essential and prerequisite to the realization of the Father’s agenda for Nigeria at this juncture-the birthing of a new nation, the realization of a Jubilee leader come 2010, and His use of the nation in Africa and the world. Refer to Cindy Jacob’s prophecy on Nigeria.

It is in this regard that the GDOP Nigeria National Steering Committee calls all believers in nation and all over the world to unite in 40 days of fasting and prayer, Jan 1 to February 9 2007.

Prayer issues to be tackled include but are not limited to the following, :

  1. Repentance- the Body of Christ in Nigeria and individuals believers.
  2. Prayers for Reconciliation between various sections of the Body that have been divided by many issues including doctrines e.g. Pentecostal and Evangelicals/Orthodox churches. E.g. The Orthodox say the teachings and emphases of the Pentecostal are wrong and the Pentecostals say the Orthodox are cold and dead.
  3. Up rooting, destroying and throwing down all values, doctrines, practices, etc, within the church in Nigeria that the Father did not plant. Matthew 15:13.
  4. Cry for divine visitation upon the nation resulting in genuine national revival which will effect transformations at the individual, family, community and national levels. Isa. 44:3
  5. Planting and establishment of Kingdom values, doctrines and practices within the church in Nigeria. Restoration in the hearts individual Nigerian Christians of the expectation of the Lord’s imminent return.
  6. Prayer for restoration of balanced emphasis on character and charisma-fruit of the Holy Spirit and His gifts-in the church in Nigeria. Restoration of Biblical discipleship in the Nigerian church.
  7. Prayers for the establishment of more 24/7 (Twenty four hours, seven days a week) prayer altars around the country. Prayers for the restoration of passion for souls in the heart of the average Nigerian Christian. Prayers that Nigerian church will arise and fulfill her missionary destiny. Prayers for the successful takeoff and fulfillment of Vision 50:15.
  8. Special prayers for all categories of leaders in the Body of Christ in Nigeria-General Overseers, people in the five offices: Apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastor and teachers; and other levels of leadership, including but not limited to Prayer leaders, leaders of Mission Agencies, and Christians who are leaders in the Market Place. Prayers for the unity and cooperation between Denominational heads, Prayer Leaders and Mission Leaders; Prayers for Christians in politics and government. Special prayers for Mr. President.
  9. Special prayers for Children and Youth.
  10. Special prayers for the Christian family
  11. Special prayers for Christian education.
  12. Special prayers for Women.

How will the time of fasting work?

It is a time of FASTING AND PRAYER. The scripture says; rend your hearts and not your garments. The individual believer is expected to receive from God how he will fast through these forty days, some may go from 6am to 6pm, breaking at end of each day; others may take it from 6am to Midday, others 6am to 3pm and yet others may be led to more involving commitments. Let each person carry this burden at the level the Spirit of God enables him/her.

Prayer points.

The prayer points will be made available through the internet soon. General Overseers are requested to please authorize the circulation of the prayer list among their flock.
Local assemblies are requested to pray on these issues during their normal prayer meetings.
Christians in the market place should pray on these during their company lunch hour fellowships.
Students in both secondary and tertiary institutions should pray on these during their times of prayers.
Families should join in prayer during family devotions
Individual Christians should gather in twos and threes to call upon the name of God.
Let all cry mightily to God to have mercy upon us and our nation, to restore us to Himself so that his words over our nation will be fulfilled in their time.

PLEASE FORWARD TO ALL CHRISTIANS ON YOUR MAILING LIST. THANK YOU.
